3 Weeks Old!

Has it really been 3 weeks already? In some ways its gone by very fast and in other ways, it feels like an eternity since I delivered our sweet baby!

We are all finally well and Oakley is perfect! This week, I felt like we were starting fresh as we would if we'd just come home with a full term baby. So although he's already 3 weeks, it feels like we are just at the beginning.

Oakley is such a sweet sweet baby. He rarely cries or fusses unless there is a good reason. He's eating well for his size and growing every week. He's wearing newborn size clothes and I'm guessing he's just over 6 pounds now. He's definitely not gaining weight as quickly as Dakota did, but he's doing really really well for a preemie. He eats around every 2 1/2 hours during the day but in smaller quantities. And he eats about 2 times during the night. He SMILES a lot! He is just a happy baby. He's even giggled in his sleep a couple times. He often closes his eyes so that they are not completely shut but just little slivers and peers out to keep an eye on things. When he is awake, he is very alert with very big eyes and makes lots of really cute faces. We love his "O face" where he purses his lips together and looks like he's trying to say 'oooo'. He has huge hands for his size and long fingers and is constantly grabbing and scratching his face if I don't keep mittens on.

Dakota is a great big sister so far. She is very careful around him for the most part and very concerned about him. She tries to share everything with him and gives him really sweet kisses and loves all the time. He really is such a cute cute baby! And not just because we are biased. He's one of the cutest newborns I've ever seen! We love him so much!
