A Great Family Weekend!

With school and work and other demands of life, it is a rare day in our lives right now where we get to spend an entire day together as a family. Saturday, we planned a fishing trip to Willard Bay. It was blazing hot and there were lots of people at the beach. Originally, we wanted to catch crayfish, but after trying several spots with traps, we gave up and whipped out the poles. We caught mostly bluegill, and didn't keep any of them, but it was fun for Dakota to see real fish out of the water flipping around. She wanted to touch them every time. And she kept saying "shish, shish" over and over the whole time. (She loves fish!) We also let Dakota play in the water quite a bit and she had a good time digging in the wet sand and splashing in the water. We packed a picnic lunch that we enjoyed by the water. After several hours in the hot sun, and thankfully, no burns... we rested on the shady beach and then headed home. I think our next trip to Willard will be beach party rather than fishing oriented. I didn't realize what a great beach area it has. Definitely plan to have a BBQ Beach Party there in the future! After we all came home and napped we met up with Jichan and Marsha at the cabin and went out for Chinese. It was a great day!
