Bye Bye Houses

On our flight home, we finally had a window seat, on the front row, without anyone sitting next to us! It was heavenly! The sun was going down when we took off for our final leg home... Dakota finally noticed all there was to see outside and was glued to the window watching the airplanes. As we started to take off, I said, "Tell the planes, 'Bye-Bye, we are going up in the sky'". She looked at me, and then looked back out the window for the entire take-off. For the first time, she realized what was happening while we were on the plane... that we were moving and going somewhere. She was totally fascinated. We flew over several neighborhoods thru our ascent, so I kept saying, "Bye-bye houses, we are flying up in the sky," trying to convey to her what was happening. Finally, after we were in the clouds, she unglued her forehead, looked at me, then back out the window, lifted her hand, waved it, and said: "Ba-bye." It was the first time, but definitely not the last... she says it all the time now! :)
