The Rendezvous

Today we met up with Rachel and Lucy and Jichan and Grandma at the cabin to go up the canyon to the Mountain Man Rendezvous. But first, we did a little yard work at the cabin and the girls played around. Its fun now that they are a little older and can run around together.
We've never thought Dakota and Luc look anything alike, but lately, they make similar kinds of expressions....

Then we headed up to Left Hand Fork for the Rendezvous. This is where people dress up like mountain men and set up teepees and sell old fashioned dolls and toys, hunting supplies, antlers, skins etc. And they have log throwing, hatchet throwing, and shooting competitions. Its a blast from the past. I got Dakota a string of beads and a cow bell, and she thought they were great! We had a delicious pulled pork BBQ lunch and just hung around and talked and played with the kids for a while. At first it was really humid, but then it cooled off and sprinkled a little rain. Dakota gave Jichan lots of kisses and was showing off on top of one of the picnic tables and loving all the attention. It was really nice just to relax and spend time with family.

I loved this.

A highlight of the day.... We all had to have a our hands stamped when we entered and Dakota thought it was pretty cool. While we were eating lunch and she was wandering on top of the table between all of us, she noticed Jichan had a stamp on his hand. She pointed to the stamp on his hand and then she lifted up her hand and showed him the stamp on her hand. It was so cute! She was like, "look Jichan, I have that stamp on MY hand TOO!" We were all laughing. And Doug and I were impressed that she made that connection. She's growing up so fast and learning so quickly!
