Tahoe (Sunday Monday Tuesday)

Sunday: After visiting family in Centerville and meeting the latest addition, Link, to our family, and visiting with daddy and Jichan for Father's Day...I packed up food, pack'n'play, one suitcase, one rubber maid, one cooler, blankets, jackets, and a stroller... and a baby....and headed out to Tahoe! We started in the early evening hoping Dakota would sleep for the greater part of the trip and she did! It was a beautiful drive as the sun set and besides a gas and potty stop in Elko, we drove the whole way arriving at about 1:00am pacific time.

Monday: Dakota woke up at her usual time, leaving me tired but excited to be here. We are staying at the Marriott Timberlodge in South Tahoe and it is beautiful. The suites are amazing, complete with a view of the mountains and outdoor (amazing) pool, a mini kitchen, living room, and jetted tub master bedroom. We relaxed for most of the morning while some went golfing and just played with all the kiddies. Cindy and Marie were here with Kenji and Jackson and I am in love with Kenji's hair!! After morning naps, we headed down to the pool where we played for a couple hours. Then it was naps and dinner and I spent the better part of the evening trying to get Dakota settled down in bed.

Tuesday: Today we woke up and got ready to go hiking. We drove around to Emerald bay which was beautiful and after a hard search for parking, began a downward hike to Vikingsholm. It is an old castle home on the beach front which the state aquired about 50 years ago. It was pretty cool. While waiting for our tour, we took the kids down to the beach and Dakota had a blast wading in the water. It was pretty cold but she didn't seem to mind. Eventually I just stripped her to her diaper and let her get wet and sandy. She and Trey and Eden all enjoyed the beach and the rest of us pretty much just watched them and took pictures :) It was a hot hike back up the steep trail with Dakota in tow, but we made it to the top with burning legs and had a picnic lunch with an amazing view. We stopped by an Ice Cream Parlor on the way home which came with HUGE servings and was delicious!!! Dakota liked just dipping the spoon in the ice cream and pretending to taste it. The babies were all tired, and Dakota couldn't stay awake in the car long enough to make it back to the lodge. After naps, we had a family night swim which was very nice. Dakota LOVES the water and loves to swim. I'm excited to take her swimming more this summer.
