At the check up he weighed 28lb 4oz, 33.5 inches tall... 40% and 35% percentiles respectively.
We just adore our little Oaker-man. He brings so much life and love to our family. He is our little charmer still. Very friendly and happy most of the time. Though he is approaching the dreadful two's and manifests that by throwing, hitting, scratching and crying unnecessarily. When you take out those parts, he is just so loveable! He will snuggle and give kisses and "loves". He can be super sweet. He looks up to Dakota so much and loves to play with her in any way. He also loves his baby brother and is so tender with him. When he cries he will go find his binky and give it to him. He constantly gives him loves and lays on top of him in a brotherly way. He's also protective of him. He occasionally lashes out on him as well, but that is few and far between. He mostly just picks on his sister. He knows hitting, poking, taking toys etc. will get reaction out of her and he exploits it to the max. He also will hit us if we tell him something he doesn't want to hear or stop him from doing something he wants to do. We are working on the hitting thing and it is getting a bit better. We resorted to silently walking him to his room and putting him in time out there with the door closed for several minutes. He's not allowed to come out unless he is going to be nice and says sorry to his sister or whomever.
He is a smart little guy and a fantastic problem solver. He can figure out a way to do anything he wants, whether its climbing up to get into the fish tank, turning on lights out of reach, opening doors, getting outside... you name it! For this reason, we have to lock their bedroom door at night in the name of safety.
Oakley's a little slow on the talking end. He understands a ton and can communicate in one way or another what he wants. But, he only speaks a few words regularly. The doc says he has 6 months to build on that before I have to worry. He understands when I tell him to get his shoes or jacket, if he wants to go bye-bye, wants to eat, needs a drink, diaper change, to sit in his carseat in the back of the van, to say sorry, etc. So, I know his hearing is fine. But currently the only words he uses on a REGULAR basis is Mamma, Baby, Koda, Daddy, Gone, Good, Hi, and Yeah. Though he's said other words occasionally like fish, ball, cracker, more, Grandma, truck, car, Jichan, Tiggy, Woody, Nemo, cheese (I know I'm missing others), but he won't use them to communicate regularly. He will sign "more", "please" and "goodnight" regularly. He also does the actions for a few songs like Itsy Spider, Twinkly Star, and Popcorn Popping. He'll also fold his arms for prayers.
He loves Nemo and Toy Story and also recently started watching Rio. He'll also watch Monsters Inc. but otherwise is not a big movie watcher. One of the only TV shows he will watch is Mickey Mouse Clubhouse. He loves to run run run. He pretty much went from crawling to running last year and never stopped. He is happy in wide open spaces where he can just run and jump and play. He also loves anythign that spins. Wheels of any kind. Consequently he likes cars and bikes and anythign with an axis.
He loves to pretend to talk on the phone or take pictures. He will smile and pose for pictures. He says "cheeeeze" any time he thinks you are taking a picture. He's pretty dang cute. Not camera shy at all! Though he also has a hard time holding still like his sister.
He is a subborn little fella and sure lets you know what he thinks. But he's also one of the most charming, loveable snuggly little guys you've ever met. We love him so much. Our lives wouldn't be the same without him.
