Halloween Festivities

"Tweeet!" This is what Dakota says for "Trick-or-Treat" :) Our day began with trick-or-treating at Sarah Daft Home in Salt Lake which was great! We met up with Jichan, Marsha, Rachel, Josh and their kids. All the residents handed out candy and the girls cleaned up! Plus, it was nice and warm :) It took a couple tries for Dakota to figure out that you don't have to open every candy at each door.... that you could put it in your bag for later! But by the end she was doing pretty well.

Both girls dug into their stash a little early :)

My niece Lucy was Cinderella....

Guess we wore Jichan out.... My nephew Link was a hot dog :) SO cute!

We went back to Jichan's to take naps and had a delicious soup bowl dinner. Thank you Marsha! Then we took Dakota to the neighbor's across the street to visit and try a real door :) She got a chocolate bar (her favorite) and ate the whole thing on the door step! Then she approached Shauna and said "PEEEASE" and our neighbor just couldn't resist. She pulled out a Kit-Kat bar, opened it and broke the bar into 2 pieces and held it out for Dakota. Dakota came over and grabbed them, one in each hand, jumped up in the air and said "YAY!!!" We all laughed. That was the highlight of her day, I think! We tried to visit a couple of other friends, but didn't have much luck. Then it was dark and cold so we went back to Jichan's and hung out instead.
My little garden fairy all dressed up....

"Trick-or-Treating"

PUMPKIN CARVING
Dakota loved this. She just watched what Daddy did and then copied him. We gave her her own spoon and she would dip it into the pumpkin and then dip it into the pile of seeds like she thought she was helping clean it out! :) We both made pumpkins in honor of Dakota. Mine was a little Dakota jack-o-lantern and Doug made his pumpkin Nemo. If you look closely, you can even see the fins sticking out and the one gimp fin. Dakota totally got it and loved it! She kept saying "light" and "pupple" (pumpkin) and when we finally put them on the front porch, she cried cuz she didn't want them to go outside. She tried to sneak out the front door every chance she got all week just to get a peek at the pumpkins.
