I just want to remember all the cute things Dakota does lately.
She can't say the letter "P" or its sound, so I try to practice with her by saying "pa-pa-pa-PEE" (Usually she says "tee" for "P"). So now whenever she sees the letter P she says "ba-ba-ba... TEE". We can't help but laugh. :)
She also does this huge grin & high-pitched breathy laugh when she is just laughing socially or she does something that she thinks is funny. You can see all her teeth (especially her k-9's) when she does this laugh and her little nose scrunches up. We love it!
We started taking the binky away during the day when she's awake and since then, she's probably learned 75-100 new words in the last 2 weeks, no joke. Language is clicking for her quickly without that thing in the way! There are too many for me to even think about listing right now. But the best part is, that when she says something, we usually repeat it back to her to confirm what she is trying to say and now whenever we get it right, she claps her hands and declares, "YAAAAAY" to congratulate us on understanding her :)
When she is being naughty, we stop what we are doing and look her in the eye and tell her what she did wasn't ok and ask her to be a good girl. She doesn't get to proceed with anything until she consents to being good by saying "good-girl". Sometimes it takes a while but once she makes that decision and says it, she usually is really good after that... But occasionally she does something she knows she's not suppose to and before I can even say anything, she looks at me and says "good-girl" to assure me she doesn't need further reprimanding.
She's also learned the meaning of 'one more' and now uses it to negotiate what she wants all the time. She holds up her pointer finger, shakes it at you and says "moh-more" with her big brown eyes!
She's also perfected her puckering/kissing skills and gives really good non-slobbery kisses now. Lately, when she's extra loving, she'll cup our face and give us a sweet kiss on the lips. It's really really cute and hard to resist.
She says "Oh-NO" whenever something goes wrong or she senses a scary part coming up in a movie.
She's starting to really understand the concept of talking to someone on the phone and loves to call Gamma and tell her about what's going on in the day.
Any girl with blonde hair in a pretty dress is "Rella" (Cinderella)
Whenever she spills something, she declares "Mess! Mess!", but if you give her a rag, she'll clean it up pretty good for you!
Lately she sings to herself all the time or will sing along with shows on TV. Sometimes its a really sweet "la-la-la".
She calls babies "waa-waahs", monkeys "mean-tees", Nemo "Eeen-mo", her cousin Link "Tink", milk "mul-kkkkk"
From now on, I'm starting a separate blog just to note all of the funny things my kids do and say. So if you want to check it out for the funnies, it's tummylaughs.blogspot.com
