5 days in St. George

Well after a couple years of full-time working and full-time going to school for Doug and all the craziness that happens in between, we decided it was time for our own little family to spend some quality time and take a little vacation together. Doug's family owns a condo in St. George so that is where we went! We had a tight budget but we were able to do some fun things and still stayed within our budget which was nice all in itself!

WEDNESDAY: We made the 6-hour drive down to St. G and the dvd player Gramma got for our car kept Dakota entertained for most the drive! (Thank you!) After arriving and settling in, we picked up Little Caesar's and attempted to swim at the club house before putting Dakota to bed for the night. Unfortunately, I came down with the stomach bug Dakota had a few days before I spent the night pretty sick in bed.



THURSDAY: A lazy morning and recovery for me. After watching some movies and hanging out, we ventured to Jumping Jack's indoor playland so Dakota could have a little fun. At first, it was intimidating to her with all the huge blow-up gyms, but after Doug showed her the ropes, she was running around and having a good time. Doug enjoyed some In-N-Out for dinner and after Dakota went to bed, we watched Transformers 2.






FRIDAY:
I was finally feeling better, so we went to Fiesta Fun center to play! We got there right when it opened, and were the only ones there. It was really nice. We played the 'dump truck' game with most of our coins and were very successful. We earned enough tickets to buy Dakota a pink poodle purse and she loved it. She carried it around the rest of our trip. Her "doggy purse." Then she and Doug ruled the soft play area. Dakota loved running around, going down the slide and trucking thru the hanging punching bags. I sat on the sidelines with my pregnant belly and just enjoyed watching her have fun.







After an afternoon nap, we headed over to an indoor aquatic center that was really cool. It had a whole kiddie pool area with spraying fountains and a frog slide. Dakota wasn't satisfied with that so we had to take her down the BIG slide. She LOVED it! She wanted to go down a thousand times and never got sick of it. As soon as we'd plunge into the water at the bottom, she'd come up saying "one more, one more!" And she talked about the "siide" the rest of our trip! It was probably my favorite part of our trip. We had a good time and will definitely go back there!




After swimming, we ate at one of our favorite St. G restaurants, Las Palmeras. Then Doug and I watched Angels and Demons after Dakota was in bed for the night!

SATURDAY: We took it easy... slept in... watched some Disney videos with Dakota. And then Doug watched Dakota while I went to the outlets for a little fresh air. I DID NOT spend a cent! But I just enjoyed the time to myself that I don't get very often :) and had fun browsing. After some napping, we headed out to dinner at Red Lobster thanks to a giftcard from my dad for Christmas! Dakota was kind of a pill and we are realizing more and more that taking her to nice places is going to have to stop for a while till she grows out of this stage! :) But we enjoyed some wonderful seafood and then Cold Stone ice cream for dessert. Then it was jet tub and early night to bed! Dakota loved the jet tub and the little kid's robe that was there.


SUNDAY: Again, another day of relaxation and cleaning up the condo to go home. We lounged till dinner time and Doug started to feel sick with the same stomach bug we had. But we decided to try to beat the illness and get home. So we left and made it home to Logan in only about 5 hours. Not bad! Not speeding either... Well, maybe a little ;) Dakota watched her movies in the back and then fell asleep the rest the way. It was a great trip and some great quality time together before the new little one comes! We definitely won't go that long again without a family vacation!
