Cabin Fever

Dakota and I had a FANTASTIC weekend. All last week, we were under the weather with sinus infections and it was so cold and snowy outside that we pretty much stayed in our house all day every day. Dakota was getting sick of me, and we were both getting sick of being in our house. Doug had to work all weekend so we decided to go down to Salt Lake for the weekend.

We drove down Saturday in the snow and met up with my Aunt Betty for a birthday date. She took us out to eat at Red Robin for my birthday and then to Hollywood Connection so Dakota could ride rides. Since I have an almost 9-month pregnant belly in every sense of the word, Betty was nice enough to go on most of the rides with Dakota including climbing thru a soft play area to show Dakota how to get to the slides. But Dakota had a wonderful time! And really needed it! She was so excited she ran all over the area and darted from ride to ride. Needless to say, she passed out in the car before we even got on the freeway!
(sorry the pictures are terrible but you can see how happy she is!)

Later in the eve, Jichan and Marsha watched Dakota and I went to The Blind Side with Betty. It was such a GOOD movie! Thank you Betty for a wonderful birth-date! :)

After church on Sunday, we met up with Auntie Anna and played for a while we visited for a bit. Then we had dinner with Rach, Lucy, Link and Bubba.

Monday we went to lunch with my friend Julie and the kids played on Mc D's playland. Dakota fell asleep on the way to Ikea so we laid in the car in the Ikea parking lot for almost an hour and half and napped! Then we ventured into Ikea and it was pleasantly slow. I took Dakota to the kid's toy area and she was the only one around so she got to play with all the toys by herself for about a half hour! Then we enjoyed a cinnamon roll together. It was a good day of mother-daughter special time together. And I really enjoyed my special time with her maybe even more than she did!

Then we visited Uncle Clinton at his care center and Dakota fed him a bag of Cheez-Its. She carefully put each cracker in his mouth... it was really sweet to watch her interact with him. Then she helped push his wheel chair back to his bedroom and played with him in his bed for a while.

Then we headed off to "Suessy"'s birthday party. Dinner at Pei Wei and then cake and ice cream at the Coplin house. Lucy and Dakota squealed and chased and played all thru the near-empty restaurant. I love that they play together now. After the party we headed home to Logan.

But we were both content after having such a wonderful weekend with our family! And so much time spent outside our house!
