Oakley 17-19 Months

Our Oak-man is the little charmer in the house and is getting more opinionated with each day. He is quite the busy bee which surprised me, considering how busy his sister is and how mellow of a baby he was. But this kid never stops moving and we often joke that he doesn't really ever walk... he just runs. He is such a sweet kid and is very lovable. He will give snuggles and kisses often and is usually a pretty happy boy. He likes to sing songs, play chase, run from the vacuum, go for walks, LOVES to swim, LOVES bathtime, likes to read books, eat, play with his sister and go bye-bye to just about anywhere. He is obsessed with water in any form. We have to keep him away from the toilets and the fish tank. He will spend hours and hours at a splash pad if you let him-even when he is so cold his lips are turning blueish purple, you still have to drag him away. He particularly loves running water even more than a pool of water. But he will also sit for as long as you let him at the pool, in our baby pool out back, and in the bathtub. Each night when we announce "bathtime" he goes racing upstairs and straight for the tub. I think it's his favorite part of the day. He has no fear of the water and is already trying to hold his breath and stick his head in the water when we swim. I think he might be swimming by next summer. He loves to be read to but these days likes to sit on the floor with a favorite book and read to himself. He has an animal book he loves that he points to and makes the sounds he knows. He also loves the book "Ten Little Ladybugs" and likes to point to each one on the page like he is counting. He thoroughly enjoys playing with his sister but also pushing her buttons and making her mad. He is a big tease and also likes to be teased. He has all his teeth to date and is a pretty good eater for the most part. But some of his favorites are fruit snacks, french fries, roast beef or steak, Cheerios, deli turkey, goldfish crackers, macaroni and cheese, green beans, bananas, and clementines. He doesn't really like cheese by itself or apples. His favorite songs are Itsy-Bitsy Spider and Popcorn Popping and he knows all the actions to both. His two favorite movies are Finding Nemo and Toy Story 2. He also likes Mickey Mouse Clubhouse on Disney channel. He can show you his belly, nose, ears, head, teeth, and toes. When you ask him if he wants to go somewhere, he runs to the foot of the stairs and sits down and waits for you to come put his shoes on and then runs to the door. He also recently started climbing up into his carseat by himself. He loves to open and close doors (or toilet seats) and push buttons on anything and everything. He also likes to talk on the phone both pretend and in real life. He started sleeping on the bottom bunkbed with a guardrail and does very well. He sleeps most nights from about 8pm-8am. We finally got him completely off the bottle just in time for the baby to come and he is doing well on a sippy cup. He uses a binky still, but mostly just for sleeping. He takes one early afternoon nap for about 2-3 hours. And his stuffed Tigger is his best bud. He can't sleep without it.

Words he says:
Cheese (smiling for camera)
Mamma
Dadda
Koda
Cooper ("Coo-pow"-his best friend)
"Moo" (cow)
"Sssss" (snake)
"Kack-kack" (duck)
"Aaaaaah" (sheep)
fish
Truck
Ji-cha (Jichan)
Gamma (Grandma)
Betty
Yeah
Tiggy
Nemo
Cracker
Shoes

Words he signs:
Hi/Goodbye
More
Please
Nigh-night
Bath

At his 18 month check-up he weighed in at a whopping 22 pounds and 30.5 inches long.... 7% for both!

We have tried to get him interested in babies and explain that there is a baby brother on the way, but he shows absolutely no interest. I think he is going to be a little shocked when we bring home our new family member. But I know once he adjusts, he will be the best big brother and they will buddies.

We love having Oakley in our family. He lights up our day and keeps us all laughing.

We love you, bug!
