Festival of Trees

We went to the Festival of Trees on Friday to see my niece, Lucy perform in her dance recital. She did a really great job and all the little kids were so cute in their costumes. Afterward, we wandered around looking at all the trees. If you've never been, people decorate trees (usually themed) and donate them to the festival to be auctioned off and the proceeds benefit Primary Children's Hospital. They also have wreaths, quilts etc. And then there's a kid's corner where you can buy tickets and use them to different activities and crafts. All proceeds again go to the hospital. Dakota really loved looking at all the trees. My favorite was a superhero themed one with Spiderman and Ironman and various other heroes. A Dr. Seuss themed tree sold for over $6,000.00. Just to give you an idea. One year, I'd like to decorate one in honor of my brother, Clinton. They also have amazing gingerbread houses that people build and donate.

Afterward, Jichan and Marsha treated the kids to some activities. Dakota loved standing in the middle of a huge life-size bubble, making a reign-deer hat and getting a manicure. We all enjoyed lunch at Crown Burger afterward.

It was a fun day!

The only pictures I got were on my cell so they aren't the best...
