My Oakley bear is getting closer and closer to one! It's crazy how quickly he grows while I'm busy chasing his toddler sister around! We love love L.O.V.E. LOVE him!! He really is such a joy to have in our home. Truly. He is the happiest kid. He can always bring a smile to your face.
Here's what my little guy has been up to this past month:
He can crawl... sure, its an army crawl, but he can get anywhere he wants to go, and FAST! (We've had a few choking scares due to his sister dropping things on the floor for him to find or trying to feed him her food).
He has been sitting up for very short periods for about a month now, but over the weekend, he started sitting up unassisted for indeterminable amounts of time.
When he is on the floor, he often rolls to his side and props himself up on one arm. We call it his 'poser' pose.
He's started jibber jabbering again. The last couple months he hadn't been making much noise. Unfortunately, it sounds a lot like 'Dadadada' LOL
He LOVES food. Any kind. He breastfeeds about 5 times a day, eats 3 meals of baby food, and still snacks in-between on baby food. This kid should be enormous at the rate he eats, but he's only about 17 pounds (still 26 inches long). Which surprisingly isn't very big for his age group. He eats every kind of baby food including meats, puffs, and biter biscuits. He also will try any table food he can. He's recently eaten french fries and was able to have bread for the first time and absolutely loves it!
He FINALLY takes a bottle! I usually give him a little apple juice in it. Its a cheap $1 Wal-mart brand one, but after trying about 6 or 7 different kinds, I am thrilled he takes anything at all! He also drinks out of a regular cup pretty well and a sippy cup just fine. But at least now I have the freedom to leave him for longer periods of time.
He loves paper products of every kind. If there is any kind of paper, tissue or cardboard on the floor, believe me, he will find it! I had to removed a large wad of TP from the roof of his mouth the other day and he was seriously offended that I took it away.
He has figured out how to really rock out in the Jumperoo and loves it. He plays in it almost every morning for about an hour.
He doesn't like to travel in his carseat for extended periods of time, but otherwise he is a really good sport about anything and everything. He's easy to take places and just goes with the flow on our day to day adventures.
He is extremely social and loves to be part of the party. He hates to be left in a room alone. He wants to be where the crowd is and loves any attention he can get.
He hates to have a soiled diaper on. He will let you know the instant it needs changing. He like to be clean, enjoys his baths (in a new bath chair I got him) and loves to be naked!
He officially got his first tooth after months of teething! His front bottom right tooth cut thru just over Conference weekend. I think the one next to it is not far behind. He is a terrible teether... snotty nose, doesn't sleep and is extremely sensitive and fussy. But I can't really complain since he is such a good kid the other 99% of the time!
He went on his first camping outdoor excursion this past month. Over Labor Day weekend, we camped up on the Blacksmith property for 4 days, 3 nights and he was a champ! After returning home, he got sick for the first time with cold-like symptoms.
When he's not sick or teething, he sleeps pretty well thru the night. He often wakes up at 6am or so to eat and then goes back to sleep, but he will sleep from 8:30 or 9 till then *most* nights. He likes to sleep unrestricted, usually on his tummy and with a blanket right on his face.
He naps twice a day, but his morning nap is the best, usually a couple hours. His late afternoon nap is more like a cat nap. He definitely does not require as much sleep as his sister did and still does.
He gives open mouth slobbery kisses when you ask him for a kiss. I love those!
Tigger is still his best friend. He also really watched Nemo for the first time and loved it. I think he likes the bold orange and white stripes going on for both!
I can't believe my baby is getting so big already! Though, Doug and I can't wait to see what kind of little person he will become!
He also had his first injury this month. His sister knocked the hard drive off the desk and onto his head... It hit the back of his head and smashed his face into a hard plastic toy he was playing with. When I picked him up (crying) I rubbed the back of his head while he buryed his face into my shoulder. When he pulled back, there was blood everywhere. It was coming out of his eye and freaked me out pretty badly. The toy had cut his eye. We had to go the Primary Children's ER and were there almost the entire day. Three different doctors and a specialist had to examine his eye and run tests to determine if the cut needed repairing so close the eye. They decided that since it was horizontal along the same lines of his eye lid and hadn't damaged the tear duct, that they would let it heal on its own. We had to apply topical anti-biotic to it and be very careful while it healed. The next day, he woke up with several bruises on his face. But even though he must have been in pain, he was still smiling even at the ER. His eye has since healed up nicely.
